Facilitators 2022

Brak Sreytoch

After graduating from high school, Sreytoch has been working as a freelance digital marketer and also co-founded an educational platform called “វិនាទី-Vineaty”. She has participated in many competitions, volunteers, educational forums and this time at the Cambodia ICT Camp 2022, she has high hopes that it’ll bring her the most unique experiences. In addition, she also expressed her interests towards the program of how captivating and beneficial the topics are, covering various aspects of digital technology, which is suitable for all relevant and interested individuals. She added that volunteering this time, she holds a high commitment and hopes to learn more as well as to meet new people.

Hean Menghang

Menghang is a third year student in Paragon International University, majoring in computer science. Currently, he is also working as a part-time mobile application developer at one local Edtech Startups. For his past experience, he used to be a mentor in both programming and mathematical fields as well. He is looking forward to the Cambodia ICT Camp as it will not only help improve his soft skills but also the technical skill that relates to his major.

Kong Maidalin

Maidalin is currently working as Biz Dev at Happen Space, Metaverse Event Community App startup. She graduated with a Bachelor Degree of Arts in International Tourism Management from Bangkok University International, and she is interested in event management, and would like to learn more about ICT skills from various speakers and apply it to event context. She enjoys working in a team environment, and she would describe herself as a cohesive team member. She is super excited to meet everyone​ at Cambodia ICT Camp!

Kong Rothavy

Rothavy is a freshman majoring in Architecture at the Royal University of Fine Arts. In order to sharpen her soft skills and gain new experiences, she has immersed herself in many community work. She is very happy to participate for the first time in Cambodia ICT Camp in 2022.

Kuch Sikol

Sikol is a second-year student at the Department of Media and Communication (DMC). Nowadays, she is volunteering for women’s media center of Cambodia as a News Reporter. She is thrilled to be selected as a Volunteer at Cambodia ICT Camp 2022. She is looking forward to making a lot of friends and learning more from them.

Lam Sotheary

Theary is currently studying a bachelor’s degree in international studies at the Institute of Foreign Languages, as well as a one-year professional course in UX/UI design at the TUX Global Institute. She appreciates becoming a volunteer at ICT Camp because she wants to learn more about technology from both foreign and local speakers, and she foresees that this camp will provide her with the best opportunity to seek and learn something new in society while also enhancing her ability and knowledge in the future path. Furthermore, she wishes to spend her free time being priceless and doing good for herself and her community. Similarly, she is the type of person who is eager to explore new things.

Mann Huyleang

Huyleang is currently a junior student at Department of Media and Communication of Royal University of Phnom Penh. She is also working as an economy reporter at AMS. In addition, she is inspired to explore and try something new in order to meet new people and gain more experience.

Mao Bunnay

Bunnay is currently a junior student at Paragon International University. His experience is a web developer and an administrative assistant in the computer science department. Moreover, he also volunteered as a teaching facilitator in basic technology and used Microbit for the project. He believes that Cambodia ICT Camp will gain new experiences and make new friends. He hopes to meet everyone in this camp from June 23 to June 25, 2022, in Siem Reap!

Peou Khem Raksa

Raksa is a junior Computer Science Student at the Paragon International University. He has taught C++ and Arduino to students preparing for the World Robotics Olympiad Cambodian Round and is currently interning as mobile developer at his university. He believes that volunteering in ICT Camp will enable him to meet and learn from great people in the ICT field. In his free time, he likes playing football and socializing with friends.

Prum Danika

Danika is a freshman at PIU majoring in Business Administration. She would love to get involved in the community and share views with variety and diversity since she has a strong desire to learn new things in her life. She also intends to acquire knowledge and the world of opportunity in order to extend her horizons by taking on new challenges. Even so, she was quite enthusiastic because it was her first time volunteering at an ICT camp 2022 and she expected to learn a lot in this sector.

For​ the​ Cambodia​ ICT​ Camp​ 2022,​ he​ will​ be​ in​ charge​ of​ producing​ blogposts​ to​ showcase​ and​ highlight​ various​ key​ activities​ on​ the​ camp’s​ website.​ In​ addition,​ he​ will​ be​ facilitating​ and​ working​ closely​ with​ volunteers​ to​ support​ them​ in​ taking​ notes​ and​ minutes​ during​ each​ presentation​ at​ the​ ICT​ Camp​ 2022.​

Chi Lymeng
Economics Editor – Researcher

For Cambodia ICT Camp 2022, Lymeng is mainly responsible for writing, copyediting, and publishing blog posts showcasing the event and other blog posts addressing each session under different topics. Another role of his is to support a team of volunteers to take minutes during the whole event. He also facilitates the guest speakers, volunteers, and others as deemed necessarily required.

Hang Visith
Investment Data Research Officer

At ODC, Visith is responsible for the desk research and data collection on foreign investment from multi-languages sources and translates it. For Cambodia ICT Camp 2022, he assists on interpreting​ (if needed) and providing stationery materials. Apart from that, he is a speaker during the small sharing session about ODC profile page of Foreign Investment Mapping in Cambodia.

Koem Chhuonvuoch
Natural Resource and Land Editor - Researcher

Chhuonvuoch will work closely with the team to facilitate with the participant on the arrangement of accommodation, documents, and transportation. She also monitors the sharing session and write the blog post on the event.

Kry Sosereybot
Partnership and Communication Manager

Sereybot​ is responsible for visibility and ODC social media platforms. He mainly oversees and produces social media content, communication materials design, and all other media products. In Cambodia ICT Camp 2022, he takes part in organizing this event, supporting coordination with local media and graphic design contractor, producing communication materials, covering the camp’s photography and video tasks.

Kuoch Layheng

For Cambodia ICT Camp 2022, Layheng is responsible for supporting the logistics team, writing blog posts, publishing profiles on ICT Camp’s website, and facilitating the event.

Ngov Chihor

Chihor holds a Bachelor of Arts in Media Management from the Department of Media and Communication, Royal University of Phnom Penh. Prior to joining ODC, he joined the Documentation Center of Cambodia (DC-Cam) as a media intern, and CARE Deutschland – in Germany – as a Communications and Advocacy intern. He was also a Public Relations volunteer at the Department of Media and Communication. He joined ODC in 2020 as a Communications Officer. He is now responsible for planning and coordinating the Cambodia ICT Camp.

Phy Sakhoeun
Finance and Admin Manager

Linking to the Cambodia ICT Camp 2022, he plays an important role in supporting admin and logistics arrangement for the whole event. He identifies the best quality of transportation and works closely with the hotel to ensure well arrangement of food, accommodation, and venue of the event. He also works out with Senior Finance and Admin Officer on printing materials, including t-shirts, tote bags, and backdrops.

Seun Vichra
Web Development and IT Officer

At ODC, Vichra is mainly responsible for ensuring the well-functionality of IT network systems and infrastructure, including hardware and software. His primary responsibility is on digital security control, system upgrade, and other IT-related support. He also supports website development and maintenance. During Cambodia ICT Camp 2022, his main role evolves around technical support for the whole camp.

Siv Vatana
Research and Web Content Manager

Vatana has been proactively working for ODC since 2016 as Editor-Researcher and Research and Content Officer. With years of extensive experience, Vatana has been recognized for the leading role in coordinating and supervising the content and web development teams in online resources expansion. In late 2020, she was enthusiastically promoted to Research and Web Content Manager.

Vatana has been part of the Mekong ICT Camp 2017 and the Cambodia ICT Camp 2018 as a Camp Facilitator. She assisted regarding invitations and processing other needed documents to support the volunteers, participants, speakers, and other honor guests to join the event, as well as logistic arrangement. In the Cambodia ICT Camp 2022, she plays another role in facilitating the regular camp advisory committee meeting and site visits. She gives her hand to help the Cambodia ICT Camp Manager and the team with other tasks as needed, including content development and social media outreach during the camp.

Sok Srey Lux
Communication Intern

Srey Lux joined ODC in May as a communication intern under the Partnership and Communication team, working on producing digital communications materials. Equipping with media-related knowledge background, she assists in producing communication materials including, booklet design, contents, and photographing the event.

Y Puthealy
Data Research and GIS Officer

Puthealy carries out quantitative research from public data sources on development, economic and environmental issues for internal and external publishing, together with further critical data analysis and visualization. Within the Cambodia ICT Camp 2022, not only does he share partially speech on the FIM presentation, but he also handles on facilitating the first aid kit, greeting and welcoming guests (guest receptionist) during dinner time, and assisting participation registration list/miscellaneous.

Ya Somary
Senior Finance and Admin Officer

For Cambodia ICT Camp 2022, Somary plays an important role in preparing cash advance for all expense of the camp and printing promotional material such T-shirt, tote bag, and other materials. She communicates with suppliers to make sure that those material are completed on time as required. She also assists Finance & Admin Manager with administration preparation and logistics for this event.

Be Chatra

Mr. Chantra BE is known in a startup ecosystem in Cambodia as a Tech & Startup Community Builder. He organized several Tech & Startup events since 2008 including Startup Weekend Phnom Penh, BarCamp Cambodia, and Digital Cambodia.

Chak Sopheap
Executive Director
Cambodian Center for Human Rights (CCHR)

Ms. Sopheap Chak is the Executive Director of the Cambodian Center for Human Rights (CCHR), a human rights organization working for the promotion and protection of political and civil rights in Cambodia. As one of the country’s most prominent human rights advocates, Sopheap’s work has been recognized by the former US President Barack Obama. She is a recipient of the Indian-ASEAN Youth Award (Young Women Achiever Category) and Franco-German Prize for Human Rights and the Rule of Law. She holds a Master’s Degree in International Peace Studies from the International University of Japan. Sopheap is also a human rights blogger (http://sopheapfocus.com/).

Cheng Mengchou
Communications & Resource Mobilization Coordinator
Cambodian Journalists Alliance Association (CamboJA).

Cheng Mengchou holds a BA degree in Media Management from Department of Media and Communication of Royal University of Phnom Penh and a Master’s degree in Global Citizenship, Identities, and Human Rights from University of Nottingham in England. She has journalistic experience in reporting news and coordinating election coverage for Radio Free Asia’s Khmer service. She is currently teaching Broadcast Journalism at Department of Media and Communication at Royal University of Phnom Penh, in addition to her freelance reporting.

Chy Sophat

Sophat was from Banteay Mean Chey province. He had involved with several youth activities also social acidity since 2006 during studied at High School & University. Currently, He is the Digital Design Specialist at Development Innovations. Sophat is passionate about digital design and bringing his creative ideas to life through artwork. Sophat has designed unique content for Barcamp Cambodia, Technovation Cambodia, Startup Weekend Cambodia, Inno-tech Festival Cambodia, Mobile Camp Asia, Google Developer Group Phnom Penh and Digital Cambodia.

Mr. John WEEKS is an IT/open source enthusiast and educator. He has facilitated numerous socially responsible IT projects in Southeast Asia via House32 Web Design and is currently managing Open-Comics.net.

Mao Chandy

Chandy has experience in innovation project design and management, as well as digital content creation such as photography, video production, and front-end web design. Chandy is very passionate about technology and a better understanding of user experiences. Chandy has helped train hundreds of Cambodians in key ICT-related topics, and have managed programming to support research on and the development of innovations in Cambodia.

Ngeth Moses
Digital Security Consultant

Mr. Ngeth Moses is original from Phnom Penh, Cambodia. He worked as Production Head and executive producer in a regional radio station for 3 years, a Communication and ICT project coordinator for 10years, ICT & Media Unit Head for almost 3 years and Digital Security Expert/Consultant from 2018 till now.

He does training on digital security and safety online for young people as well as citizen journalists and professional journalists. He is also a co-founder of the Open Cyber Talk – Digital Rights event. He provides a consultancy of cyber threats to both individuals and non-profit organizations to prevent digital attacks, data breaches, and personal information leaks.

Nop Vy
Executive Director
Cambodian Journalists Alliance Association (CamboJA)

Nop Vy is the Executive Director and one of the founding members of the Cambodian Journalists Alliance Association (CamboJA). Prior to this, he was CamboJA’s board director while serving as a Media Director at Cambodian Center for Independent Media (CCIM). Since 2001, Nop Vy has worked as a social worker, news reporter, editor, and editor-in-chief. He holds a bachelor’s degree in law and a master’s degree in private law from the Royal University of Law and Economy in Phnom Penh and an associate degree in journalism from the Royal University of Phnom Penh.

Sar Mory

Sar Mory is a Co-Founder and former Vice-President of the Cambodian Youth Network. Currently, he is a Senior Training and Communication Officer at the Arbitration Council Foundation. He has a decade of experience campaigning with youth and communities on human rights, digital rights, and environmental issues. Mory is also a human and environmental rights educator, focused on supporting university students, youth activists, and rural communities affected by damaging development projects. He holds a master’s in International Human Rights Law from Pannasastra University, Cambodia.

Thy Try
Executive Director/Editor-in-Chief

Thy Try is the Executive Director/Editor-in-Chief of Open Development Cambodia (ODC). For the last ten years he has been promoting open data, a stronger open data community and open contracting to improve transparency and accountability for sustainable development in Cambodia and the wider Mekong region.

As Executive Director/Editor-in-Chief, Try plays an important role in increasing public access to current and historical data and information about Cambodia’s development trends. The primary avenue is ODC’s online open data platform, compiling freely-available data from a wide range of public sources.

In 2015, he joined the Mekong ICT Camp in Thailand as a participant and then in 2017 his organization had the great opportunity to host the Mekong ICT Camp 2017 outside of Thailand. Following its successful organization of this event, ODC was encouraged by committee members of the Mekong ICT Camp and the open data community to host the first Cambodian ICT Camp in 2018. Try also plays a key role in the fundraising campaign for the camp.

Try has a legal background and been involving with many research projects including the situation around cyber law and freedom of the internet in Cambodia since 2013. He is a member of the advisory committee of the Global Center for Mekong Studies (GCMS) Cambodia.
