Ms. Elizabeth (Liz) Yen Tzu Liew is an East West Centre Graduate Degree Fellow pursuing a Masters in Asian International Affairs at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa. She holds a double major in Journalism and Public Relations from Curtin University of Technology in Perth.  

Her research interest is China’s soft power in the Asia-Pacific region, and the interplay of soft diplomacy in the overall U.S-China landscape. Liz aspires to be a geopolitical strategist specialising in soft power engagements across public-private-nonprofit sectors. Given the global systemic underrepresentation of women in leadership positions of foreign policy, part of her vision is also to increase gender representation in the field.   

She currently serves as Philanthropic Funds Advisor for the Asian Venture Philanthropy Network and Advisory Board Member for the Cambodian ICT & Digital Forum, a brainchild of Open Development Cambodia.
