What is Cambodia ICT Camp?

The Cambodia ICT Camp 2022 – the Data Camp is a three-day data workshop on open data, digital security, and data journalism, built on a successful 5-day Cambodian ICT Camp 2018 in Siem Reap province and the Mekong ICT Camp 2017. In this three-day event, national participants from media professionals, journalists, civil society organizations, digital rights working groups, government, private sector, university lecturers, and students​ in Cambodia will come together at the camp to learn how to use data in an effective and secured way to protect and build their communities.

The Cambodia ICT Camp 2022 will be held at Sokhalay Angkor Hotel Siem Reap from 23 to 25 June 2022.

For speakers and facilitators, the camp is open to all nations worldwide with expertise and experience related to the above-mentioned thematic areas and an understanding of the current digital and technology trends.

What are the activities in the camp?

The camp consists of a series of interactive sessions and hands-on activities on open data and technologies for social impact, fact-checking tools, and verifiable information sources delivered by professional and technical experts in the fields of data, media and communication, journalism, and technology. This workshop format – together with the networking possibilities – provides a unique opportunity for in-depth learning and understanding of data and digital concepts and their applications in real life.

Is this camp a fully-funded program?

The Cambodia ICT Camp will fully cover all the expenses on accommodation, traveling, and meals during the three-day event

Is there a registration fee to participate in this camp?

There is no registration fee required for this camp.

After applying through the application form, will I be able to participate in this camp?

The camp’s committee will consider all applications. You will get a notification via the email address you provided if you are selected to participate.

What should participants prepare for the camp?

We encourage participants to lead discussions. All participants can consider bringing problems, ideas, stories, tools, equipment, or websites to present to others.A computer is required in most of the hands-on sessions. You are advised to bring your personal laptop with you. The camp will not provide it to participants.

What should I bring as a participant to the camp?

For international speakers: your passport, boarding pass, COVID-19 vaccination card, and COVID-19 certification issued by healthcare professionals or authorities.For local speakers and participants: your ID card and COVID-19 vaccination card.

We encourage you to bring alcohol, face masks, hand sanitizer gel, an umbrella or raincoat, sunscreen or mosquito repellent spray or any other material they think is necessary.

How do I get to the camp?

International speakers: You will be scheduled for an airport transfer by our organizing team and they will assist you to get to the event hotel.Local participants: The organizer will arrange a bus to transport participants from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap and vice versa.

How do I get a Cambodian visa?

Organizers will issue an invitation letter to speakers and facilitators. However, you are responsible for acquiring your visa to enter Cambodia.

What are the minimum requirements for COVID-19 measurement for the camp?

All participants, speakers, facilitators, and organizers must be vaccinated with the WHO-approved vaccines at least three jabs and present their COVID-19 vaccination cards to the organizers. Everyone is advised to undertake at least one COVID-19 Rapid Test before traveling to the camp.
