Thomas Honnest
Currently Data Protection Officer for Marseille, second biggest city of France, Thomas Honnet is a legal expert specializing in digital law and digital transformation. Previously, he advised many startups in bringing their activities into compliance with the GDPR and current regulations on the protection of personal data. He also advised the Vietnamese government in implementing its e-Government, and the entire related legal framework. He has also worked for several French Ministries on various legal issues, and completed a mission for the United Nations and its development program, on data protection worldwide. Recently, he worked with the Cambodian MPTC on data protection regulation.
Thomas Honnet spends much of his time teaching and providing professional training. He teaches a digital culture course at Sciences Po, and various legal subjects, such as Digital Law and Criminal Business Law, at France’s leading universities (Sorbonne, Assas, and also in Phnom Penh and Ho Chi Minh City). He has also produced a course for OpenClassrooms on Data Governance, and was a trainer for INSP, France’s leading school for senior civil servants.
